Classical Foundations, Creative Freedom
At Anthem Music Studios, we feel strongly in provided a slightly different approach to learning piano. We focus on two equally valuable learning paths: classical and composition. The classical track teaches students how to read music fluently, develop strong technique, and perform well-known pieces by composers such as Beethoven, Bach, and Schumann—pillars of the standard piano repertoire. The composition track emphasizes music theory, chord progressions, and ear training—giving students the tools to play by feel, understand modern music, and even create their own.
Most students experience a blended approach that develops both discipline and creativity. Whether you're looking to master the written page or improvise freely, our program will equip you with the ability to perform, understand, and enjoy music in any setting. Students gain confidence, flexibility, and a deep musical foundation that serves them for life.
Lesson Format, Structure, & Goals
While every student learns differently, we've had amazing results applying the following structure to our repeating, weekly lessons. During each lesson, especially in the beginning we will cover the following topics in each lesson and provide students with items to work on each week.
- Finger Exercises
Improve dexterity, finger strength, and independence
Practice scales and chord progressions (used both as technique and theory tools)
- Student-Selected Piece (Sheet Music-Based)
Students choose a well-known song or classical piece to work on
Learn how to follow sheet music, use correct fingering, and interpret rhythm/dynamics
- Reading and Mechanics Practice
Develop fluency in reading treble and bass clef
Focus on note recognition, rhythm values, and hand positioning
Start with middle C and gradually expand outward using structured workbook-based drills
Similar to a typing course: repetitive, incremental reading and finger placement exercises
Intermediate/Advanced Lessons
We have some of the best instructors in the DFW area who are classically trained and have years of classroom, performance, publishing, and teaching experience for any level
